Head Teacher's Welcome
I am extremely proud to welcome you to The Corner School, a place of hope and opportunity for children facing unique challenges. As an independent Therapeutic Primary School in Wembley, we are devoted to providing a nurturing haven for pupils aged 5 - 11 with social, emotional. and mental health needs, who for a variety of reasons, may find mainstream education inaccessible.
Our dedicated team of staff aim to provide every pupil with a quality education through a broad and balanced curriculum. We also endeavour to support pupils beyond their academic progress by fostering positive relationships with self, other and the curriculum.
The Corner School is a nurturing environment where staff inspire, support and challenge pupils to achieve their full potential. We are a small school with small classes and a high ratio of staff which enables us to really get to know our pupils, their needs and their families, building and maintaining positive relationships.
The Corner School is part of the charity Unlocking Potential. We are a close-knit community, and we encourage our pupils and families to be actively involved in all areas of school life. Pupils and their families access additional support via our tri-part therapy model of Occupation Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Creative Play Therapy. Parents/carers are encouraged to meet with the therapists regularly to share strategies between school and home and reflect together on the sometimes small but always significant steps that contribute to each child's success and underscore our commitment to recognising and celebrating every achievement.
We take great pride in our school, from our inclusive and nurturing approach, through to pupil progress and their behaviour for learning. We encourage our pupils to reflect daily and break down targets into small, measurable steps of progress and improvement. It is important to recognise that every pupil will have had their own journey, educational experiences and are at different starting points. So, as well as building confidence in learning and their social and emotional skills, we also support our pupils with more general life skills, so they can develop as active and successful members of their communities, working to achieve their full potential while at the Corner School, and preparing for the next steps in their education, whether it can be a specialist setting or mainstream school.
